"Faster, Higher, Stronger - Together"

We are excited to announce the 2024 Upper Suncoast Dog Olympics! As we celebrate our 60 Year Anniversary at Upper Suncoast Dog Training Club, what better way to join the celebrations of the 2024 Paris Olympics, remember the 1964 Tokyo Olympics (the year our Club was founded) and bring back our much loved Dog Olympics last held in 2018!

The Dog Olympics will take place at our Club facility on Saturday, 7 September. The morning will see you and your canine athlete compete in Obedience, and the afternoon will be dedicated to the exciting sport of Agility. Athletes can compete either in Obedience or Agility, or across both disciplines. And while we will build on Obedience and Agility skills and there will be a strong competitive spirit, these Games are not trials but rather a great way to have fun with your dog (and win a medal along the way). Each segment will consist of several games testing different skills and providing lots of fun.  All athletes will participate in an uplifting Opening Ceremony before entering the arena to compete for a much coveted Olympic Medal.

The Games are open to members & students of USDTC as well as other local dog training clubs and their students.  Dogs should have basic obedience skills, be on good behavior around other dogs and up to date on required vaccinations. Dogs taking part in the Agility Games need not be expert, however they should be able to perform obstacles safely. The dog walk will not be utilized in the games.

Lunch will be provided to all registering or making a donation (see details below). We will also have fun outside of the arena with an exhilarating Trick Dog demonstration, a fun raffle and a photo booth for athletes and friends.

All proceeds will be donated to Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Alliance of Therapy Dogs’ goal is to form a network of caring individuals and their dogs who are willing to share smiles and bring joy with those who need it most, including nursing homes, classrooms, libraries, assisted living facilities, to name just a few. They are an international registry of certified therapy dog teams and provide testing, certification, registration and support for members who volunteer in animal-assisted activities. We at USDTC work closely with Alliance of Therapy Dogs as part of our Public Outreach Program POP, and are excited to support this wonderful organization with a substantial donation from our Olympic Games.
